Today the second golf major of the year starts, the US Open. Unless you have Sky and insomnia, it will be difficult to catch it live on TV with the 8 hour time difference.
I was talking to a Golf Pro buddy in San Francisco a couple of days ago and he tells me that the fairways are as tight as a bowling alley and the rough, as in true US Open style, is punishing. The Olympic Club is one of the great golf courses in the world and always features in the top 10 US rankings.

Just for fun, I asked the boys in the shop to nominate the winner, so let's see if any of us choose your pick. Justin thinks Tiger Woods will win; Luke went with his namesake Luke Donald, Chris's money is on Mat Kuchar and Josh has this strange idea that
Web Simpson will be the man. I'm going with Lee Westwood and that's nominated before his win in Sweden last weekend. It's sure to be great watching; I just hope to be able to stay awake until the finish on Sunday night/Monday morning.
Let us know who you think will win this year's US Open at The Olympic Club, by clicking here.
Men's Invitation Day I was hoping this week to bring you a picture of the winners from last Friday's Men's Invitation Day; sadly the picture attached this week was taken at 8am that day and sums up one of our 'blue ribbon' days this year.
I can't remember this event being cancelled before with a course closure due to rain in June.
We will have to look forward to the Men's Autumn Invitational now on Thursday 11th October to show off our course to our golfing friends.

 | Putting Master Class I was thrilled with the turnout for my putting master class last Saturday. Thirty members invaded the putting green to join me, trying out the various skill and putting drills. Thanks for all your kind messages and it seems to be a winning formula for a clinic.
The second free putting clinic for members is on Friday 22nd June 5pm – 6.30pm, where I will talk about some more advanced putting techniques.
It would be nice to know if you're thinking of attending, so please either click here to contact me or put your name on the notice in the clubhouse. |
