The Misbourne Cup The busy summer golfing schedule continues at the club and there have been quite a few events played over the last 10 days. The Misbourne Cup (Club handicap championship) was held over two days. Andrew Philpot was victorious with a total of 70 points, which was helped by a second round of 39 points. In second place two points back on 68 points was Mark Ruttledge followed by Richard Allison in third on 65 points.
The Ladies Captain-Pro Challenge The Ladies Captain-Pro Challenge was played last Tuesday. It was good to see some familiar names appearing in the winning team of the Pro-Am format competition. Congratulations to the winning team of Liz Keens, Lisa Allen, Kwai Voon and Ingrid Redahl who scored 78 points. | Andrew Philpot - Misbourne Cup Winner |
Pro Shop Staff Success
It’s been a good week for the Pro Shop staff and former staff. Well done to Luke Mitterhuber on becoming club champion at his home club, Ashridge. Luke shot a total of 151 over 36 holes in windy conditions to get into a play-off, which he won on the first play-off hole. I hope this helps him keep his place in the Hertfordshire county side.

Secondly, Josh Turner passed his playing ability test at Nazeing golf club. By passing this test it allows Josh to enter into the PGA training foundation course in the next couple of months. Also competing was Tommy Obergan, who also passed the qualifying score and will also be embarking on the three year programme while working as assistant professional at Berkhamsted golf club. Well done lads!
Caesar’s Challenge Tony Pike has asked me to remind you that the Caesar’s Challenge will be held on Monday 16th July in the morning. This competition is run by the LX section (retired gentlemen of the club) with a view to involve other members of Gerrards Cross in a competitive/social atmosphere within their group. The golf will be followed by a lunch. The entry sheet is on the notice board in the clubhouse.
Titleist Fitting Day We still have a few spaces for the Titleist fitting day on Tuesday 10th July early afternoon if you’re wishing to try a new driver, hybrid or irons. Titleist always bring plenty of fitting options to test along with the Track Man launch monitor, I would recommend a prompt phone call to the Pro Shop or click here to secure one of the last few remaining spaces, but hurry if you do not want to miss out. | |
Good luck to all the competitors in the club championship this Sunday. If you are not playing, why not come along at some point during the day to watch some of the action from Gerrards Cross premier golfing event of the year. Let’s hope for good weather until at least next Tuesday for Glenise’s Ladies Captain’s Day.
There are only two weeks to the British Open. I personally can’t wait for the next major to cross the Atlantic to our shores. Click here to let me know who you think will win.
Enjoy your golf,
